About
This project explores the relationship between colour and resonance as tools for shaping emotional experience.
I investigated how sound and colour could work together as a unified system, not just to represent emotion, but to actively guide it. The outcome is an audiovisual environment that translates personal associations of calm and introspection into a sensory experience.
The Sound
Ethereal. Floating. Levitating
These are the qualities I aimed to evoke through the soundscape. Elements included:
Synth layers
Low-frequency tones
Shimmering chimes
Natural textures (rain, birds)
Rather than a static loop, the sound evolves over time. Subtle distortion, layering and shifts in intensity introduce moments of tension and release, mimicking natural rhythms like rainfall building and dispersing.
This creates a gradual emotional arc, guiding the listener through a space that feels both peaceful and quietly transformative.

The Visual
Don’t underestimate the power of simplicity
Tranquillity, for me, is grounded in natural elements: water, light, and horizon.

Magic
Created wave-like visuals using GSLShader to mimic water movement
Developed warm gradients to reflect sunset tones (orange/yellow)
Synced motion and light shifts loosely to audio frequencies
Premiere Pro
Combined visual layers using blending modes
Enhanced contrast and depth to create the effect of light reflecting on water
Introduced a central glowing circle (sun) as a visual anchor
Used fade-to-black transitions to mirror shifts in the soundscape
The result is a minimal, responsive environment where visuals don’t overwhelm, but instead move in resonance with sound.
Reflection
Darkness is a colour
This project challenged my assumption that transformation comes from complexity. Instead, I found that impact comes from resonance, the alignment between sound and image.
Simplicity creates clarity
Darkness creates space
Pauses invite reflection
The most meaningful moments weren’t the most detailed, but the most restrained, where the viewer is given space to feel, rather than be overwhelmed.
